Camp Kawartha Environment Centre
The Camp Kawartha Environment Centre is located on more than 200 acres of Trent University’s wildlife sanctuary lands. It is open for programming year round and will accommodate up to 80 people at any one time. The Centre itself was built with innovative green architecture, making it one of Canada’s most sustainable buildings. It is also used to deliver over 30 environmental education programs linked to the Ontario curriculum. The Camp Kawartha Environment Centre also offers workshops on environmental education to student teachers from Trent’s School of Professional Learning, and provides hands-on workshops, lectures, seminars, and day camps on sustainability to the general public.

Programs Offered: The Kawartha Environment Centre offers over 30 interactive, environmental programs with curriculum links in many subjects for grades 1-12. Each program runs for 1.5 hours. Most programs are offered September to June, although some are not available in the winter. Program themes include water stewardship, the environment and the arts, aquatic life, biodiversity, habitats, sustainability, alternative energy, tracking, traditional games and skills, wetlands, and more!
