Programs Offered: The Botanical Gardens do not offer any preplanned programming, but you can make your visit an educational experience for your students on plant life and the ecological value of gardens. In preparation for your visit, I suggest visiting the garden's website to learn what is in bloom during the time of your visit. Click here for a series of lesson plans that go hand in hand with a visit to a garden. Simply choose the lesson(s) that is right for your class and learning goals! During your visit, you may choose to give your students a scavenger hunt to help them discover the hidden treasures of the garden. You may also choose to download the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens app from their webpage, which is an interactive guide that takes your students on guided walking tours throughout the Botanical Gardens. (Note: Free WIFI is available at this location if you choose to use this option).
All the above information (except programs offered) was taken from the Niagara Parks website. Program ideas were developed by me and resources were taken from the NPBG website (including the app and 'what is in bloom'), Growing Minds (lesson plan ideas) and Life Lab (scavenger hunt exemplars).
