Zoos
Visiting zoos can help your students learn about wildlife, habitat, and more. In addition to easily tying in with units on flight and adaptation, and courses such as biology, geography, or physics, a visit to a zoo can be used to teach your students about conservation tactics and, by exploring the different habitat exhibits, about the importance of protecting a multitude of environments to house all earth's species. The sites I have recommended do offer programming as well as free exploration, so I encourage you to supplement the programs with your own activities. To explore the best zoos for environmental education in the Niagara region, hover over the zoos tab and click on one of the sites from the drop-down menu.
